David M. Kletter Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Naval Services

David M. Kletter exhibits his devotion to his country through 30 years of service in the United States Navy

    MECHANICSBURG, PA, October 14, 2010 /Engineering PR News/ -- David M. Kletter, Retired Captain from the United States Navy, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in the armed services. During this time, he was awarded the Defense Superior and Meritorious Service Medals, as well as the Legion of Merit.

For over 33 years, Capt. Kletter actively served his country with the Navy. He deployed aboard four different aircraft carriers and accumulated over 5,000 flight hours as pilot-in-command with 550 carrier landings. During his years of service, he led a deployed squadron of 150 to 200 personnel and 4 E-2C aircraft. He was recognized by the Navy forhis expertise in aviation, engineering and computer technology and was assigned to the Naval Air Systems Command for two tours of duty, the latter as the Assistant Program Manager for engineering on Navy carrier airborne early warning aircraft and carrier onboard delivery transport aircraft. Later in his career, he was chosen for a NATO tour as a senior officer in the Air Defense Component of the Operations Department at SHAPE headquarters in Belgium. There he led a working group of NATO nations' officers. His team wrote the Military Operational Requirement for the Multifunctional Information Distribution System for the NATO air defense system and the AWACS aircraft. Upon returning to the United States, he took charge of the Naval ROTC Unit at the University of Wisconsin. He increased enrollment from less than 75 students to over 130. He taught Naval Leadership and Management seniors and recommended soon-to-be graduates for entry into aviation and nuclear programs. At the U.S. Army War College, he was selected as a seminar leader in the Department of Military Science, Planning and Operations. In several assignments, he personally briefed very senior officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Through his leadership skills and detail-oriented nature, he excelled in these roles and earned the aforementioned awards.

A graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, Capt. Kletter earned a bachelor of science in engineering science in 1968 and a master of science in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1977. He currently resides in Mechanicsburg, PA and is enjoying retirement with his wife, Marjorie.
