R. Leonard Balgobin Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who

R. Leonard Balgobin started out as a technician and has worked to become a first-class manager, leader and mentor

    BROOKLYN, NY, July 24, 2009 /Engineering PR News/ -- R. Leonard Balgobin, Director of Engineering at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of hospital operations.

With 18 years of experience in his field, Mr. Balgobin specializes in software technology, building maintenance systems and the management of regulatory compliance issues. As director of engineering, he is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations for the hospital, managing utilities, maintaining the air conditioners, boilers and utilities for patient care and comfort, managing construction and renovations, and ensuring public safety. Also an employee at Sodexo, Mr. Balgobin started out as a technician and has worked to become a first-class manager, leader and mentor. He worked in the manufacturing industry for 10 years and later moved into the more secure healthcare field. He attributes his success to his personal style, desire to stay current by taking extra courses and attending seminars, being aggressive and progressive, his general management and results-oriented skills, and to his extensive electrical and mechanical knowledge.

A graduate of the University of London, Mr. Balgobin received his Associate's Degree in Industrial Instrumentation in 1975 and his Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1974. He is a member of the New York Chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering, the American Hospital Association, the National Fire Protection Association and the National Facility Management Association (now the International Facility Management Association. In 2007, he was named the Best Recognized Provider of Coordinating Support, was honored with the Client and Customer Satisfaction Award in 2006 and won the Rookie of the Year Award in Division East of the United States in 2002. He hopes to become a vice president of a hospital or university.
