Michelle Crull, Ph.D., PE, Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Explosives Expert and Registered Professional Engineer Michelle Crull received the Chief of Engineers "Hero" Award
HUNTSVILLE, AL, April 17, 2009 /Engineering PR News/ -- Michelle Crull, Senior Structural Engineer at the United States Army Engineering and Support Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of engineering.
A research specialist in the field of explosives, Dr. Crull is responsible for studying the effects of volatile substances on various structures. At her post, she is responsible for developing new methodologies of structural makeup. She notes that an interest in engineering and a talent for building things inspired her to become involved in her profession. A decorated award winner, she received the Chief of Engineers "Hero" Award in 2008, the Civilian Engineer of the Year Award from the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 2003, the Coastal America Partnership Award in 2004 and the Engineer of the Year Award in 2003. She considers completing research for the Unites States Army regarding the construction of barricades to be the highlight of her career, and attributes her success to familial support and her hard work.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Crull has held numerous positions. In addition to working at the United States Army Engineering and Support Center, she was employed by the University of Alabama in Huntsville (1985-1988), the United States Department of Agriculture Sedimentation Lab (1985), the University of Mississippi (1983-1985) and the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Waterways Experiment Station (1984).
Dr. Crull earned her Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1989 and her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi in 1984 and 1982 respectively. A registered professional engineer in the State of Alabama, she is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and an avid supporter of Habitat for Humanity and the Downtown Rescue Mission.
